Thesis Title: The Development of an Assessment Model for eTourism Capability in Scotland

Sofia Reino holds a Senior Researcher position at CICTourGUNE, San Sebastian.

After graduating from Universidad de A Coruña (Spain) in 2003 with a Degree in Tourism, she moved to the UK and enrolled in a top-up year at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University, where she attained a BA honours degree in Travel and Tourism Management in 2004. In 2005, Sofía completed her MSc in Heritage Tourism Development with distinction, at the University of Sunderland. Soon after this, she gained a scholarship to fund her Ph.D. in Benchmarking ICT adoption by tourism sectors at Queen Margaret University, which was completed in 2010.

Additionally to her teaching and research at QMU, during her Ph.D. studies Sofia collaborated with different Institutions, both for further research and teaching. She worked as guest lecturer for the University of Sunderland, where she also collaborated in the development of the European Commission project entitled "Integrated e-Services for Advanced Access to Heritage in Cultural Tourist Destinations" (ISSAC), funded through the IST programme. Furthermore, she was also appointed as a part time lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University, and she also collaborated in the project “International cross cultural tourism definition research”, involving 22 partners from major Universities worldwide .

Her research expertise lies in benchmarking within hospitality and tourism sectors. Currently her research combines the development of techniques for benchmarking ICT adoption in hospitality and tourism, the generation of market-based heritage management performance outcomes and the design of sustainable branding.

Sofia is a reviewer for several international conferences and publications, including EuroCHRIE, the International Consumer Studies Research Conference and eReview of Tourism Research.
